»CLASS IS $5 PER STUDENT. We cannot accept payment through the website, so please sign up and checkout at $0, then pay in person when you arrive to the class.
Right now, we’re more likely to recognize company logos than the plants we pass by on a walk along a trail. Let’s start learning! This class is geared towards 3-5th graders, but any ages are welcome! We’ll have coloring for the youngers, and we’d love for older kids to share their knowledge.
Join Sarah Demsky, a 3-year naturalist and 8-year educator, and learn how to identify some of the most common plants hikers see around SW WA. We’ll learn how to study plants, identify some that we can eat off the trail and a few we reeeeeeally shouldn’t, and then use the store as our own scavenger hunt as we search for the hidden species. Leave with your own waterproof Plant ID Guide designed by Sarah that you can take on hikes around SW WA and use to impress your family as you rattle off plants like thimbleberries, birds nest fungi, and big leaf maples.
»Adults are required to stay with children, but you are welcome to shop, study our outdoor books and field guides, hang out outside, or join the class.
